Mother Mother at the London Music Hall, September 6th 2017
On Wednesday night, Mother Mother came out to a smaller crowd than usual for their shows at The London Music Hall. This being the second show at LMH for the No Culture Tour combined with the fact that the show was moved from Friday to Wednesday might have meant smaller numbers but the intimacy of the show was electric. Mother Mother put on a spectacular performance and once again brought the house down.
With the string of Ontario shows winding down, Mother Mother will soon be heading back to British Columbia to work on a new album which they hope to make “more wild”. I’m not sure that’s even possible but it’s exciting.
The band came out to “Simply Simple”, a fan favourite off their 2011 album Eureka. From then on the band was locked in with the audience. Spanning their discography, highlights of the night included “No Culture” (which they just started playing recently), “Oh My Heart” and the always eery “Reaper Man”. My personal favourite part of the night was when the band combined their song “Hayloft” with Led Zeppelin’s “Dazed and Confused”. I’ve seen this performed once before and it was just as unreal the second time around. With Jasmine on lead vocals, the songs flowed perfectly into one another with gritty perfection.
An enchanting performance as always from a unique and talented group of musicians.
Peace, love & history.
