Red Hot Chilli Peppers at The Air Canada Centre, February 4th 2017

So a few months back, I entered a contest with FM96 in London, Ontario to win front row tickets to the Red Hot Chili Peppers at the Air Canada Centre. I had tried in the pre sale and the regular sale to get tickets and had no success (seriously, I need to write a blog on scalpers). So obviously, when the chance came to enter for tickets (let alone front row ones), I agreed to be hypnotized live on the radio- no questions asked. At the end of the day, I was hypnotized to be Anthony Kiedis and won the tickets!

You can see the full video here.

That brings us to last night which was one of the best concerts ever! I’d definitely put it in my top ten which is saying something. The evening started without Anthony as Chad, Flea and Josh put on a great little intro before Kiedis took the stage and lit into Around the World. Kiedis, who came on with a boot for his messed up leg ( a familiar site for RHCP fans), was an amazing showman as always- dancing all over the stage despite his injury. Flea came on in all different colours, imparting strange wisdom onto the crowd and messages of peace and love.

The set itself was great and fairly hit heavy which got the crowd going. From old classics like "Soul to Squeeze" and "Otherside" to "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie" and new hits like "Go Robot" and "Dark Necessities", there was a song in the set for everyone. The cover of Stevie Wonder’s "Higher Ground" was my favourite.

The visuals of the show were simple and eye-pleasing. Hydrolic hoists dropped down from the ceiling (basically these weighted tubes that changed colour) to make you feel like you were surrounded by hundreds of candles. It was pretty cool.

After ending the set on a high with "By the Way", RHCP went off stage. Again Chad, Josh and Flea returned to the stage without Kiedis (this time Flea was walking on his hands across the stage). The first song in the encore was an awesome "Goodbye Angels" and the show was officially closed with "Give it Away" which got everyone up and dancing.
